00:00:00: Hello and welcome back to a new episode of Sweet But Salty, the bliss point of podcasts.

00:00:04: It feels like ages years millennia since I recorded A New Episode because i did it last Friday and today is Saturday.

00:00:15: so...it seems so far away to me personally that I was questioning whether I had released an episode on time last week!

00:00:23: So yeah..It's just a little weird.

00:00:27: I think, i just talked about this with a friend yesterday that the feeling for time is kind of shifting back and forth between And I think it's due to having multiple holidays sprinkled through the weeks in summer or spring.

00:00:47: So, It is a kind of interesting time that messes with your feeling for time.

00:00:54: and yeah A couple episodes ago i told you about bringing back salt in a major way, and i don't know if I have really succeeded at doing that.

00:01:05: but i'm focusing on the little things...and being more sassy..a bit more energetic when i record.

00:01:13: so this comes across as something you like.

00:01:17: The interesting thing is, as I sat down to record my brother was mowing the lawn outside and he stopped just when i pressed record.

00:01:26: so... ...I take this a major sign that it's time to record.

00:01:29: And then im in sync with time if you will.

00:01:34: it's the little things guys.

00:01:35: so yeah, there is something else I want to talk about before we jump right into todays major topic and i just went for a walk and bought flowers from my mom because its mother's day tomorrow!

00:01:46: and...i bought her some other little thing that ive really hoped she was gonna enjoy..and....I think its super important to bring joy to people & make them feel seen & loved but it's important to do that every single day, and not just on special occasions.

00:02:03: So if there is something in your life or someone in your live you feel like can be of help too Or... Do some thing for them That they would really enjoy.

00:02:15: Then just DO IT!

00:02:16: Don't wait for the special occasion.

00:02:18: Just put a smile on people face.

00:02:21: I think There is nothing more magical than THAT And that's just a little reminder for you and me.

00:02:27: So without further ado, let's jump into todays topic.

00:02:31: It was suggested to me by ChatGBT awhile ago when I did kind of brainstorming session with it about topics i could talk about...and its suggested this topic Why Structure Makes Artists Free?

00:02:48: that episode after it, so i'm doing the artist's way.

00:02:56: I don't know if you've ever heard of this book!

00:02:59: It was written by Julia Cameron and now I remember that I talked about this in my podcast before but...I'm currently on week five and one of the exercises that is basically present throughout the entire course—that lasts twelve weeks—is to write morning pages.

00:03:15: So you wake up every morning and right after your ready-to go literally three pages of long-form handwriting, so you have to write three pages and since my Handwriting is pretty small where I can right very Small.

00:03:31: i do one and a half pages which takes me about thirty two forty five minutes To finish?

00:03:36: And that's basically what i'm doing for My artistic outlet every single day!

00:03:41: The thing Is it's A beautiful example Of why this episode is called the way It's Called because it gives your life a different feel and a different structure if you do something every single day that is creative, discipline and the opportunity to really, you know practice being disciplined because I think as with everything it's a practice.

00:04:07: You know there are people for whom It's easier or too be more structured To meet more Disciplined And to really follow through what they have As a goal.

00:04:15: in other People Have to struggle A little More but They have Other Strengths so i don't Think Its a its Necessarily A good Thing to Be super Discipline that can also get In your way Because you're not as open-Minded and you Don't see The opportunities That rise that you haven't really planned.

00:04:30: so I guess it's a really important thing to be conscientious.

00:04:34: but its just as and i don't really know if wise structure makes artists free, it's necessarily the right wording.

00:04:43: but I think I'm gonna roll with that because I think that discipline and structure in your day makes you free.

00:04:50: In the sense that it frees up time for you to... Really create!

00:04:55: And this sounds a little counter-intuitive Because you would think that creativity only works so to say If you're being really chaotic or open to whatever flows your way.

00:05:06: But you establish certain structures in your life.

00:05:09: that actually aids your creativity.

00:05:11: Creativity feels like a muscle to me.

00:05:14: the more You use it, The easier It becomes and the more it flows.

00:05:18: so its not like A well that dries up If you use too much.

00:05:22: Its quite opposite.

00:05:36: do whatever you feel like doing.

00:05:38: You don't have to, y'know plan too much because the plan is already established so-to say and you can just focus on the work itself.

00:05:47: And how can a structure for an artist look like?

00:05:51: It can certainly take different forms but I would say that structure For me it's like having firstly A certain time set aside every single day That is just reserved for creating and it may sound like super difficult to free up this time, but I can tell you i'm a person who likes to sleep in a lot.

00:06:15: And getting up earlier than usual at least thirty minutes earlier then usually to write my morning pages is just something that I am not very happy about!

00:06:24: But I still do when I work-I do before work obviously And it has created different feelings inside of me.

00:06:31: One of them being frustration, but one of them be pride and an actual understanding for how the mind works at least mine.

00:06:40: so The second thing I would say that structure does for artists is if you have some kind of orderly Structure in place You don't have to waste precious energy and brain capacity plan and to think of all the things you have to do, so I think that having a little bit structure in your life is actually really good thing when it comes.

00:07:08: or being creative, it can aid your creativity because you leave everything else to the other time slots in your day and you just focus on one thing that's important when creating.

00:07:23: That is kind of freedom we all want I guess!

00:07:27: It's really be able enter a flow state and feel this oneness with our creator its creation and with ourselves, so I think that's something structure does.

00:07:41: And the third and last thing that i think structure does for artists is it enables us to explore more and that sounds counterintuitive too, but as I said if you're disciplined and have a sense of how you work and develop your way in one area then it's probably going to require some tweaking here or there.

00:08:08: for example me.

00:08:09: i'm not primarily a writer even though i love writing.

00:08:16: really getting up every morning and doing it just shows me that the same thing is possible with visual art, Practicing writing every single morning to other areas of creativity.

00:08:31: So it just gives me a boost in my confidence, I guess and in myself reliance And i think that's really important.

00:08:38: A very enriching experience To be honest because It inspires me You know?

00:08:44: I inspire myself.

00:08:45: That is wonderful!

00:08:50: how to use the morning pages.

00:08:53: The only instruction that has been given so far was to write and not look at it anymore, To really just put the pages away And I'm very excited to see where It goes What things are going to happen in the future, so that's about it for todays episode.

00:09:10: I really hope you enjoyed this little tangent of why i think structure is actually helpful to artists.

00:09:19: yeah!
