00:00:00: Bienvenido a dulce pero salada, el punto de felicidad de los.

00:00:04: podcast moderado por mi Catarina Vila.

00:00:08: Or in other words welcome to this brand new episode of sweet but salty the bliss point of podcasts hosted by me Catarina Villa.

00:00:19: That's not exactly what I said.

00:00:20: it Spanish and i guess my spanish needs some some refining.

00:00:25: but i love spanish and I learned Spanish with Duolingo for a really long time.

00:00:33: I had a streak of one thousand days, until I got sick.

00:00:38: that just threw me off!

00:00:40: And I lost my streak... With it I lost all the motivation to continue learning which is so dumb.

00:00:48: But I think in three years, or almost three years of learning Spanish with Duolingo... ...I learned only a tiny tad of Spanish which is sad.

00:00:59: but still that's not todays topic.

00:01:01: Today's topic something else?

00:01:03: i don't know why was so inspired to do this in the spanish way But the title of today's episode was actually dotted down by me a couple years ago when it all about courage and I like in my Spanish learning era, so i found that.

00:01:21: And thought why not pick this title?

00:01:26: Because growing some balls... I'm just trying to censor.

00:01:35: Yeah, being courageous I guess that's what i want to talk about.

00:01:39: Being courageous is really important and just uh somehow stretching beyond what we think is possible And beyond our comfort zone.

00:01:48: it's really important.

00:01:49: so maybe let me share a couple of stories from my life?

00:01:53: I think this was one of the stories I just remembered The other day when I was trying to convince myself That I was more courageous than I thought I was.

00:02:01: And it was a couple of years ago, and I talked about this in one of my episodes but it was long ago.

00:02:08: so let me just repeat it.

00:02:10: i was very fond of one particular bachelorette candidate back in the days of the german bachelorett season.

00:02:20: It's like a couple seasons ago or many seasons ago.

00:02:23: And I was kind of fond of him and i wasn't in my songwriting era, which i'm still in luckily... ...and ill talk more about that on my upcoming episode next week but.. ..I was so fond of him!

00:02:34: and I was at the time where he wrote a song and it was really like an inside joke song of things that he said & did during the show basically ended with me asking him out on a date and Out of all things I could have done with the song, i decided to send it To him on instagram.

00:03:01: voice notes like i slid into his dms With a voice note.

00:03:05: And was this song?

00:03:07: And i had to record It in The app!

00:03:09: Back In the days there Was This time limit Of one minute.

00:03:13: so i Had to Recorded Within One Minute in Instagram, and I played it live on my guitar.

00:03:19: And recorded it the DM section of instagram.

00:03:23: so yeah that was just one thing i remembered.

00:03:27: Another thing that really showed me I was courageous, when i was fifteen.

00:03:33: I decided to move to the US for an entire year without my family.

00:03:37: so... ...I went all girls boarding school in Massachusetts and it was crazy to leave everything behind.. ..and go there.

00:03:48: but I was fascinated with American culture And even more with the American mindset because i think americans are so good at celebrating wins and they're so good actually pushing you to become better which sometimes I miss in europe where especially in germany, people are a little reserved when it comes to that or other people's successes.

00:04:16: So...I was very fascinated with the culture And wanted there an experience for myself.

00:04:22: In hindsight, I guess there are a lot of things that could have gone a lot better.

00:04:27: It was really tough time and it wasn't a fairytale at all but it was a time that showed me more than i thought.

00:04:41: Why do I tell these stories?

00:04:42: Firstly, because they're funny and hopefully interesting.

00:04:45: But secondly... Because i want to remind you that you too have stories in your life That prove how courageous you actually are.

00:04:52: And you can swap courageous for any other adjective.

00:04:56: You really WANT To feel & be.

00:04:59: If it's like a lovable person Or creative or kind person there are stories in your life that prove to you or have the potentials to prove it.

00:05:15: so i highly encourage you just sit down and write about those things.

00:05:19: why write?

00:05:22: because through writing, you kind of externalize your memories a little bit.

00:05:27: they become more tangible...so..you can either write a list where if u want u can write along formats handwritten whatever it is that you want, It's gonna help you.

00:05:39: And...it helped me to remind myself of the things I've already accomplished in my life In order to feel more courageous because i struggled with anxiety for quite a long time now.

00:05:51: and if look back on my life..I think was always kind-of present even when very little soi just have to actively remember The Things That I do well in this area, so to say.

00:06:06: In this area of courage and being courageous... And things I've done that really stretched my comfort zone.

00:06:15: So i would say whatever it is you want get better at start with journaling about it and reminding yourself all the things already accomplished.

00:06:25: i feel like in general journaling is such a good tool and it's so helpful to me personally that I always recommend it to people who you know just want to get better at something, its journal about it.

00:06:40: You externalize your thoughts, you externalize the feelings and kind of force yourself to get into metacognition, which is so good.

00:06:53: And even after a year or two if you go back To your old notes and read through them You see and feel who you were Back then how far you've come Or maybe not.

00:07:04: So it's just A wonderful thing to do.

00:07:08: If you want to grow some huevos It's the way to go To remind yourself Of all things that you have been courageous about.

00:07:16: And yeah, I could go on about this topic forever and...I really should maybe.

00:07:23: But next week i'm gonna be doing an episode about something else that requires a lot of courage for me personally.

00:07:30: so definitely stay tuned!

00:07:34: And yeah, thank you so much for listening to this episode.

00:07:38: I really appreciate if you liked it.

00:07:44: It helps me out!

00:07:47: And i will catch u as always next Sunday with a fresh new courageous topic.

00:07:52: Have a great week Bye or should say gracias adios.
